Here’s a little insight to Friday mornings at Melt…

Every Friday morning at 9am, all of the Melt Partners meet for a weekly meeting to touch base and watch one of Zane’s famous videos. Most of these videos are Ted Talks – some sort of motivational speaker or something that we can relate into our lives and workplace. We do try to limit Zane to a 15 minute video (Friday mornings seem early for this young group of women), but once in awhile we allow him to extend beyond if he promises the video is really good! 🙂

The 2014 commencement speech of Admiral William McRaven at the University of Texas is one of our favs, and one of the few videos we appreciate being replayed on multiple Friday mornings. The one part that sticks with everyone after watching the full video is just simply about making your bed in the morning… Now how many of you make your bed? We promise not to judge (maybe), but it is such an EASY task! The simplest, first task of the day – and has a domino effect on your entire day!

The following quote of the video is a sure eye opener –
“If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day,” he said. “It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. And by the end of the day that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that the little things in life matter. If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right. And if by chance you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that is made — that you made. And a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better.”

Now if just this doesn’t make you want to start making your bed in the morning, you can watch the full commencement speech. Coming from a place of self care, not only do we advise you to come in for our luxurious full range of services, we recommend you start the day off by making your bed!
