Now, you’ve probably heard of Dermaplaning before, or have seen pictures or videos on the web – but if you’re still in the “what is this?” phase, here’s a breakdown for you!

Right now, as you’re reading this, you have layers of dead skin cells just hanging out on the surface of your skin. These dead skin cells can contribute to wrinkles, a dull skin tone, and/or breakouts – but we have a solution!

Dermaplaning is a new and trendy treatment that allows for a gentle exfoliation of your skin by using a medical-grade scalpel along the surface to remove dead skin and peach fuzz. Although this may sound intimidating, this safe and simple procedure is conducted to cause little to no skin irritation, increase your skin’s absorption of treatment products, and allow for a smooth – flawless surface for makeup application.

Trust the “FAQs”

What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation using a 10 gauge scalpel to gently remove the top layer of dry, dead skin cells and vellus hair for a smoother and brighter complexion.

Who can have dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types – except those with an active breakout and men with heavy facial hair. If you are experiencing active acne, there are other recommended treatments more beneficial in the meantime until the acne soothes. Dermaplaning is highly recommended for those with sensitive skin, rosacea, and / or those who are pregnant or nursing and want the exfoliation without the use of chemicals.

What should I expect during my service?
Dermaplaning is a painless addition to your Facial Treatment – it is a professional exfoliant on freshly cleansed, followed by a customized treatment geared towards your skincare goals.

What should I expect after my service?
After your service, you will immediately look more radiant, with a more even skin tone and texture. While the main purpose of this treatment is a gentle exfoliation – the removal of the fine, vellus hair is an added benefit resulting in a smooth and soft skin surface – perfect for cosmetic application! Your customized skincare regime will now penetrate deeper into the layers of your skin which will allow them to work more efficiently. As we always should be, especially after any exfoliating treatment, we recommend wearing a minimum SPF30 Sunscreen such as our Nelly Devuyst Mineral Sunscreen.

Recommended course of treatment?
Dermaplaning removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment.
