FACIAL AFTER-CARE
Avoid putting on makeup or other facial products for at least 12 hours post treatment
During a Facial, your skin is deeply cleansed and exfoliated – by putting makeup or additional facial products on after your pores have been opened up can cause congestion in your skin while reducing the effects of your Facial.
Avoid touching / picking at your skin, or using abrasive products (such as an exfoliant) on your skin for at least 72 hours post-treatment
It is normal for your skin to be “stimulated” and possibly flushed after a treatment. Avoid touching or scratching at your skin, and allow your skin the time to heal post treatment for best results.
Stay away from direct heat for up to 48 hours after your treatment
Direct heat can include tanning beds, saunas, steam rooms or hot tubs. It is best to avoid suntanning on the beach right after a facial as well, as your skin is completely raw and vulnerable during this time, and may not be well-protected against the sun’s harmful UV rays – even with the application of SPF.
Only go for one facial or skincare treatment at a time
This is crucial, regardless of the areas of your skin that are treated. Besides letting your skin breathe, setting a reasonable window of time between facial treatments of at least 48 hours is important.
This can help your skin adapt to the first facial treatment and allow it to repair and heal properly before the next treatment.
- Continue your skincare routine: cleanse, tone and moisturise.
- Don’t sleep with makeup on.
- Regularly hydrate yourself with 6 to 8 glasses of water per day.
- Maintain a healthy and balanced diet.
Skincare doesn’t just stop at a facial – it continues even after you have had one, and aftercare certainly helps in prolonging the benefits of your facial for your skin.
